One great advantage of getting a rabbit from a rabbit rescue is that it is likely to be neutered, its health status will be known and you can often obtain bonded pairs.

Rabbit rescues often also do an excellent job of rehabilitating emotionally upset rabbits.  A rabbit that has been dumped for being bad tempered will often improve after neutering, proper housing and handling, and scoialisation with people and another rabbit.

Rabbit rescues take in rabbits that are in need of a home.  Some rescues never re-home a rabbit once it comes into their care.  Instead they accept donations from people or fund raise to support the rabbits in their care. Other rescues do rehome rabbits unless they have major health problems.
